Martha “Marty” Jean Imler, 88, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Lutheran Life Villages. Born on December 30, 1934, in Royal Oak, MI. Marty was the daughter of the late Earl and Violet (Ulrey) Walker. She and her late husband, Charlie Imler, enjoyed 62 years of marriage and had three children, Jeanne (John Moodie) Imler, Sharon (Tim Schumacker) Doster, and Timothy (Susan Knipstein) Imler and five grandchildren, Lindy Doster and Madeline, Mitchell, Max and Ike Imler. Marty was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Kevin Doster; and her sister, Ilene Shrock. Also surviving are her brother, Frank Walker of Fort Wayne; and sister, Cheri Stone of Charleston, SC.
Marty enjoyed traveling and bicycle riding with Charlie, caring for her pets and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marty was a 1953 graduate of Elmhurst High School and worked for FWCS for 21 years with her longest service as guidance secretary and registrar at Wayne High School. She shared her very active and strong faith as a volunteer at Lutheran Life Villages and as a Stephen Minister with Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member.
A service of celebration will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 20,2023 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne 46802 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 1:00-4:00pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne 46819. Burial to follow the service at Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Lutheran Life Villages.
