MARJORIE ANN BARRETT HOOVER, 87, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at The Hearth at Sycamore Village. She was born Aug. 23, 1924 in Zanesville, Ohio. She graduated from South Side High School in 1942 along with her future husband, Mark Hoover. They married in 1945 after she graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing and he from the United States Naval Flight School. As an RN she worked at Lutheran Hospital, served as Director of Nursing at Turtle Creek Nursing Home and finished her nursing career as a long-term private care nurse. After the death of her father, R. L. Barrett she assumed the position of President of R. L. Barrett Variety Stores, Inc. Mark and Marge loved to travel, with an African safari being her favorite trip. Her love of big earrings and the most hip nail polish, along witha wicked sense of humor will always bring a giggle and a smile to family and freinds when we remember her. In recent years, Dunfee Missionary Church has served as a loving church home. Prior to Dunfee, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents R.L. and Dorothy Barrett; and her husband of 64 years, Mark Hoover. Mark passed away in April of 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Elser; grandchildren, Tim Elser, Abby Caudill, Kate Caudill and her fiance, John Drummer; and great-granddaughter, Kinley Drummer. To Kinley, she leaves her love of all things pink. "From her holding our hands as guidance, as mother and grandmother, to our holding hers as she leaned on us more and more for support, we will miss the laugh and love of our feisty "Margie" so much." Along with numerous nieces and nephews from the Hoover family, she leaves life-long friends from South Side High School and friends at Sycamore Village. Although officially listed as "staff" at Sycamore Village, there isn't a person there that we don't count as family as they have laughed, cried and mourned with us. We are so grateful for the loving care that they gave both Mark and Marge during the time they lived at Sycamore. Her family is also very appreciative for the presence of Heartland Hospice. Their guidance and support have meant so much during the end-of-life process for both Marge and Mark. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials to Dunfee Missionary Church and Heartland Hospice. www.klaehnfahlmeltonfunerals.com
