MARGARET VIRGINIA (EAKIN) HERMAN, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born May 2, 1930 in New Castle, Va., she was a daughter of the late Grover and Louie (Looney) Eakin. Maggie started out as a telephone operator in Washington, D.C.; she had an excellent phone voice and was even complimented by Bing Crosby himself. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and painting. "Maggie was a classy lady who loved her lipstick." She enjoyed watching baseball and football; she loved the Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Eagles. She was an inventive cook. She enjoyed music; especially Elvis and Sinatra. "She loved spending time with family and will be missed by many." Surviving are her children, Susan M. Korst, Margaret A. (Tommy) Kohl, Karen A.L. (Terry) Hawkins, Mary T. (Larry) True, Dorothy E. Hagan, Charles A. (Deb) Korst Jr., and Patrick M. Korst; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rene Wieneke and Willie Tucie; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles A. Korst Sr.; second husband, Reverend Lawrence Herman; and nine siblings. Funeral Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne with calling two hours prior. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
