MARCELINE "MARTY" SMITH THOMPSON, 90, peacefully died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, Titusville, Fla. Born Oct. 25, 1922, in Mt. Etna, Ind., she was a daughter of Rev. Edward and Louretta Smithee. She graduated from North Side High School, Fort Wayne. Marceline married the late Roland Smith and together had five children. She worked for Magnavox, Dandee's, Max's Grog Shop, and also served as a cafeteria supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital. Marceline, known to those close to her as "Marty", lived in Fort Wayne for over 58 years when she married Walter Thompson and moved to Florida. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandchildren, knitting, traveling, and watching her favorite television programs. "Marceline was known to all of those around her for her bright spark and love of life. Her generosity, joyous spirit, and kind heart were an inspiration to her family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest and looked forward to new adventures with her family." She is survived by her daughter, Clarissa Baker of Cocoa, Fla.; sons, David (Cheryl) Smith and Travis Smith, both of Fort Wayne, and Roger (Diane) Smith of Lake Wales, Fla.; brother, Jim (Marlene) Smithee of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Patricia Moon of Jonesboro, Ind.; brother, Robert Smithee of Fairmount, Ind.; grandchildren, Stacey Grashoff, Jenny Hardy, Jessica Gammon, Brandon Baker, Jason Smith, Trevor Smith, Brandon West, Katrina Dellacalce, and Kimberly Wisinski; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Thompson; son, Terry Smith; and sister, Esther Mooneyhan. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, with viewing one hour prior, at C.M.
