Mabel Irene Nelson, age 100 passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. Mabel was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, a daughter of the late William and Ella Fields on December 3, 1922.
She met and later married her late husband Kenneth S. Nelson in 1944 and shortly afterwards made Fort Wayne their home. Mabel enjoyed gardening and loved her children and grands dearly.
Her legacy of love is left to her daughters, Celestia Walters and Debra Nelson; grandchildren, Connie (Michael) Sarrazine and Kenneth Walters; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Jordan and Lauren Sarrazine.
A visitation for Mabel will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Foster Park, 6301 Fairfield Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46807. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mabel will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery.
