Lucille L. Frech died on December 19, 2022. Lucy was born November 4, 1922 to Martin and Irene Berghorn and grew up with her brother Mart on their family farm in Allen County. She married Henry Frech on June 3, 1944 and worked with him on their dairy farm, located just five miles from where she grew up. In later life Lucy became a Certified Professional Secretary, worked at Midwestern United Life for 21 years and served as past president of Tawasi Chapter, IAAP. Lucy was a past member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church and a current member of St. John Lutheran Church. Surviving are her daughters, Nina (Duane Hamel) Flanigan and Carolyn (Richard) Bourie; son, Henry (Rita) Frech; grandchildren, John (April) Flanigan, Erika (Jon Van Zile) Flanigan, Scott Bourie, Stephanie (Isaac) Jaecks, Suzanne (Jay Johnson) Bourie, Matt (Jamie) Frech and Jenny (Jeremy Friesen) Frech; great-grandchildren, Andrew (Wynter) Flanigan, Corey Flanigan, Max Van Zile, Jake Van Zile, Abby Jaecks, Mason Jaecks, Drew Johnson, Harper Johnson, Nicholas (James) Krosnicki), Henry Frech, Schuyler Frech, Eliana Spitler, Aidan Friesen, Ainsley Friesen, and Savannah Friesen; great-great-grandchild, Scarlett Flanigan; and special 'second' son David (Karen) Flanigan. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Schuyler (Jean) Darstein, Keith (Donna) Darstein, Karen Brindel, Ruth Darstein, Bill (Carolyn) Berghorn, Brenda Crawford, and Anne (Jay) Hopf as well as their children and grandchildren and cousins Ed (Emi) Berghorn, Chuck (Marland) Berghorn, Ellen Wilson, Eldon Cohrs, Sharon Ernst, Marilyn Van Dolah, Martin (Mary) Gerding, Paul (Carol) Gerding, Ervin (Trudy) Sonnenberg, Marilyn Sonnenberg, and Harold (Kathy) Sonnenberg, and their children. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, a niece and a nephew. Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd., Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 46802 on January 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will precede the service from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
