Lois Leone Harter

Lois Leone (Jones) Harter, 93, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2016 and now resides with her loving Savior. She was born April 16, 1923 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to the late Earl Stephen and Florence Leone (Peaselee) Jones. She worked as a Certified Insurance Agent for Lupke – Rice Insurance, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Insurance Women of Fort Wayne, the Appleseed Quilters Guild, Sew More Quilt Bee, and the Fort Wayne Ballet Costume Production. She worked as a literacy tutor and was involved as a part owner of Lakewind Art Gallery in Warsaw. Surviving are her children, Don Harter of Fairmount, IN, Sally Harter – Horton of Carmel, IN, and Gail Ann (John) May of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Shanann, Jeremy, Ryan, Logan, Devin, Madelyn, Lauren, Joshua, and Jordyn; step grandchildren, Mandy and Sarah; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Randall Harter; and brothers, Warren Dale Jones and Wayne Orin Jones. Funeral service will be Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 1 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
