Lloyd A. Ellis, 80, of Fort Wayne passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 26, 1932 to the late Paul F. and Flora M. (Harmon) Ellis. He worked as a Fort Wayne police officer before retiring in 1984. He was a member at the Waynedale United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #241 after serving in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, tinker as a jack of all trades, and especially his children and grandchildren. His friends and family will remember him as the self-proclaimed mayor of Waynedale. Surviving family include his wife of 59 years, Darlene (Skiles) Ellis of Fort Wayne; children, Steven Ellis of Yoder, Gina Wirick of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by a son, Gary Ellis, and 1 sister. A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior and Pastor Mike Harris officiating. Visitation will also be from 2-6 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to Waynedale United Methodist Church or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
