Linda Lee Russell, age 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, and is now in the arms of her Lord. She was born January 1, 1940 in Delaware, Ohio to the late James and Evelyn (née Troutman) Stockdale. She matriculated from Bowling Green State University and began her teaching career in Toledo, Ohio. While at University, she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Russell, and they would wed the following year. From this union, two children were born.
Linda spent her career as a school teacher, inspiring young minds, until her retirement as an Elementary Reading Recovery Specialist with Fort Wayne Community Schools. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling the world and was a devoted member of St. Joe United Methodist Church. She was an eternal optimist, with a perpetual smile, sense of humor, and extreme passion for family; ever the caretaker, Linda demonstrated her love by supplying special moments in abundance to those around her. She was a wonderful mother and lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing their sporting events or concerts.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Russell; daughter, Melodie Goetz; daughter-in-law, Courtney Russell; grandchildren, Tyler Goetz, Connor Goetz, Kylie Goetz, Maryn Russell; granddaughter in-law Ashley Goetz; and great-grandchildren, Willow Goetz and Zayr Goetz. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher William Russell.
Celebration of Life is 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14 at St. Joe United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Rd, Fort Wayne. Private Interment at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
