Linda Kay Newman, 73, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Linda was born on July 15, 1949 in Fort Wayne. She graduated from New Haven High School. Linda was a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and the list can go on. She had one name that stood out among the rest and that was Granny Linda. Linda was not only a grandma to her own grandkids, but a granny to everyone her grandkids brought over, to the church kids that didn’t have a granny or needed a way to go to Church Camp, to kids at Whitley Young through Foster Grandparenting, and even to adults who grandmas or parents who were already called home. She was an amazing mother, who fought hard to give her children an amazing life growing up. Linda became a grandma, and she found another love in her life. Linda always thought her grandkids were the best thing that ever happened to her. She loved watching each one grow up and become amazing young adults. She was even blessed with two great-grandboys. Linda was a member of Bible Baptist Church for 60+ years and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior on April 6th, 1963. As a Christian, Linda lived her life in service to others. She spoke to God every single morning before she began her day, as well as every night before she went to sleep. Linda took great joy in helping anyone who needed her. If she had only two dollars in her pocket, and you were a friend or a stranger in need, Linda would give it to you. Survivors include her three children, Heather Newman, Heidi (Shawn) Smith and Heath (Sara) Newman; her grandchildren, Shawnna (Billy) Esque, Shane (Hailey) Smith, Jayden Molitor, Jackson Newman and Shelden Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Lucas and Elijah Smith. Surviving as well her sister, Lyn (Mike) Wittwer; nephew, Phillip Wittwer; and great-nephews and great-nieces, James Colyer, Autumn Colyer, Maribel Morelos, Madison Morelos, Elliott and Evan Wittwer. She also has other family and tons of friends who loved and supported her. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary (Houser) Heim; her brother, Gary Dean Heim; and niece, Cindy Wittwer Morales. A Funeral Service in memory of Linda will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana with visitation one hour prior.
