Lester Lehman Newsome

Lester Lehman Newsome, 86, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at his home in Yoder, IN after battling health issues. Born in Pikeville, Kentucky on August 24, 1937, he was the son of Gabe and Ellie Newsome.

He worked as an HVAC systems installer for much of his career at several companies including Tharp Heating and Cooling and Doc Dancer Heating & Air.

Nothing made Lester happier than going to breakfast after Dr. appointments with his children. Lester loved being outdoors tinkering around the house and tending to his garden. Aside from his love for his garden, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a proud member of the South West Conservation Club.

Lester faithfully attended Fairview Church of God in Yoder, IN.

Lester will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lehman Newsome, Lewis Newsome, Cheryl Barkey, Christina Cole, Michelle Briles, Michael Newsome, and Kimberly Cowan. He will also be forever remembered by his 15 grandchildren and by his brothers, Roger (Wanda) Newsome, Garnet (Ruby) Newsome, Gary (Violet) Newsome, and his sisters Geraldine (Johnny) Wright, and Anna Jean Thomason.
