Leslie Anne Welbaum

The family of Leslie Anne Welbaum, of Fort Wayne, IN is saddened to announce her passing on October 1, 2023, at the age of 57. She was born April 15, 1966, in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of the late Richard Pequignot and Carmen Pequignot whom survives.

Leslie leaves behind her sons, Mitchell (Britney) Welbaum and Jake (Morgan) Welbaum; five grandchildren; mother, Carmen Pequignot; siblings, Chad Pequignot, Rae Lynn (Jeff) Holderness, and Jules (LaDonna Heller) Pequignot. She is also survived by Benjamin Welbaum, father to her two boys; Carolyn Pequignot, wife of her father; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Leslie graduated from Homestead High School Class of 1984; she studied cosmetology and obtained her license shortly after high school. She then became a very talented stylist in Fort Wayne and always strived to make you look and feel fabulous. The minute you sat in her chair, she considered you her friend, not just a client.

Leslie was crafty and creative and loved to be involved in her boy’s activities. You would find her volunteering at the school with the carnival and during the summer managing the Wildcat baseball league. In her spare time Leslie would be flower gardening, throwing parties, or finding the best deals at the local thrift stores and garage sales.

During the holidays she would be baking her famous sugar cutout cookies, planning the white elephant exchange and one year bringing everyone an ugly Christmas sweater to wear. Leslie liked listening to country music, dancing and watching football. She loved spending time with her family and friends at the lake.

We will remember her strength and courage as she battled cancer these last nine years. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will be forever be in our hearts.

A memorial service to celebrate Leslie's life will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday October 28, 2023 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN.
