Leona Mae Van Alstine, 96, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Golden Years Homestead. Born on August 26, 1918 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late John and Ida (Kolkman) Fey. Leona worked at Fort Wayne Knitting Mills for 10 years and was a Unit Control Clerk with Sears and Roebuck for over 20 years, from which she retired. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Lee was an avid IU fan and enjoyed watching golf and tennis. She loved spending time at the lake with her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Jacques) Bossaers of Omaha, NE, and Sandra (David) Hopper of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Michael (Rebecca) Spade of Lincoln, NE, and Samuel Spade of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter, Marla Schneider of Fort Wayne; and two great-grandsons. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Elwood Van Alstine; sisters, Norma Grote, Viola Westerman, and Mildred Westerman; brother, Harold Fey; step-brothers, Carl Westerman, Delbert Westerman, Harold Westerman, and Walter Kellermeier; and step-sister, Lillian Kellermeier. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 am at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, or to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
