Leon M. Jones

LEON M. JONES, 84, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne. Born in Manchester, Tenn., he was a son of the late Joseph and Luella Jones. Leon was an ironworker with Iron Workers Local 147 for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was a Boy Scout Troop leader for Troop 3456, sponsored by the Iron Workers Union for handicapped children. Leon was a avid and die hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed collecting trucks and his prize possession was his 1933 Chevy pickup. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary H. Jones of Fort Wayne, Ind.; children, Brian Lee (Susan) Jones of Fort Wayne, Ind., Calvin (Sharon) Roe of Warsaw, Ind., George (Celeste) Ellis of Granger, Ind., Brenda Jones of Grabill, Ind., Lisa (Rick) Dye of Fort Wayne, Ind., Judy (Robert) Fleming of Churubusco, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill (Natasha) Jones of Jupiter, Fla., Mary (Don) Richards of Fort Wayne, Ind. Leon was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Jones; son, Neil Jones; sisters, Juanita Madison and Ann Coe. Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday Jan. 4, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
