Larry Brent Jones Sr.

Larry Brent Jones Sr., 70, passed away October 1, 2022. Born March 3, 1952, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In his younger years he traveled a lot, and spent time boating on the Mississippi River. He enjoyed spending time with family which included camping trips, kayaking down rivers, and fishing. After a long career, he retired from General Motors. Loved by his family, he is survived by his father, Verlean Jones; daughters, Laura Michelle Baker (Cory), Stephanie Alvather (Joshua), and Lori Lindsey; son, Larry Brent Jones Jr.; brother, Verleon "Junior" Jones (Karen); sister, Brenda Zini (John); grandchildren, Morgan Baker, Calvin Baker, Matthew Baker, Natalie Alvather, Brixie Alvather, Joshua Alvather, Kaydinse Jones, Elliana Burns, Olivia Gonzales Granados, Acacia Magee, Atticus Magee, David Wilson; great grandchild, Julian Gonzales Granados; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jones. A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday October 21, 2022, at Foster Township Hall, 2919 Main Street, Alton,Illinois 62002. In honor of Larry, attendees are welcomed and encouraged to wear cowboy hats and flannel shirts.
