Kevin E. “Cowboy” Griggs, 64, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at his home in Fort Wayne on July 6, 2022. He was born on February 6, 1958 to the late Aubrey C. Griggs and Marguerite (Townsend) Griggs. On July 10, 1998 he married Janise Tustison in Dekalb County. Mr. Griggs retired from Harlan Cabinets after 35 years. Kevin loved to watch old westerns and travel to Colorado for hunting trips. He was always very handy and enjoyed woodworking, so much so that he built his own canoe. He is survived by his wife, Janise Griggs; children, Jerimiah Griggs of New Haven, April (Shane) Poley of Grabill, Kevin (Melissa) Griggs of Waterloo, Joseph (Monica) Griggs of Butler, Brian (Jeid) Griggs of New Haven,Stace Stevens of Woodburn, Michelle (Darryl) Cooper of Fort Wayne, and Steve (Laurie) Coon of Fort Wayne; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores “Katie” Laux of Saint Joe, Judy Ann (Martin) Anspach of Saint Joe, Veda Sue (Bill) Mauller of Leo, Vickie Jean Miller of Grabill, Warren (Lucy) Griggs of Saint Joe, and David (Pamela) Griggs of Auburn; sister-in-law, Karen Griggs of West Lafayette ; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Chico. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Aubrey Wedzel Griggs, Robert J. Griggs, and Kerry Layne Griggs; brother and sister-in-law, William S and Margaret E. “Peg” Griggs; sister and brothers-in-law, Fletta and Eugene Zerns & Lois A and Marvin Stauffer; and brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Laux and Reuben Miller. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 11, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne at 2 PM. Calling will be two hours before the service.
