She was born October 14, 1956 in Kokomo, Indiana to Melvin and Lois Krapf.
She was a 1975 graduate of Eastern High School and later obtained an Associate Degree from International Junior College.
Karen worked for many years at the Indiana Auto Auction with her husband Ted Horn, who passed away in 2021. In retirement, Karen enjoyed nature and the peaceful beauty of Indiana farmland and woods surrounding her home. She was an amateur photographer, focusing on lovely images of birds, flowers, butterflies, and local landscape. She especially liked capturing sunsets. Karen loved to share these photographs with friends and family. Karen possessed a near encyclopedic knowledge of homeopathic remedies, and dispensed useful advice whenever requested, helping to sooth a variety of minor ailments. She was also an avid reader and no-nonsense book critic, and a devoted classic movie fan, sharing the audience with her beloved cats. Her wisdom and humor will be missed.
Surviving family members include her sisters Pam Steele and Linda Krapf, brother Tom Krapf, and nephews.
Following the 1:00 pm Sunday, May 18, 2025 burial of Karen and late husband Ted in the Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke, IN, a Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at the Southwest Conservation Club, 5703 Bluffton Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809.
