June M Shafer

June graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Journalism. With her late husband, Arthur, she enjoyed the hobby of breeding and showing Great Dane dogs. The Danes of Shadam Kennel produced many of the top Great Danes in the country and internationally. June also loved playing Bridge and Mahjong, reading, shopping and spending time with family.

She is survived by her son, Cary Shafer, daughter-in-law, Linda Shafer; grandchildren, Lindsey Minnich, Adam Hakey, Zelda Miller, Jack Miller, Iris Miller; great-grandchild, Shafer Benz; and her loving nephews and nieces, Steven Mansbach, Bill Mansbach, Lynn Friedman, and Amy Murphy, and her brother, Jerry Mansbach of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Hakey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne and a graveside service is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to CAV-The Temple/Jacob & Ethyl Mansbach Campership.
