Judith B. “Judy” (Cornell) Roach , 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born to Lloyd and Rosella (Falls) Cornell in Fort Wayne, she remained a lifelong resident and cornerstone of that community. Judy was a graduate of New Haven High School.
Judy dedicated more than forty years to nurturing children in her licensed in-home daycare, touching the lives of many families across generations. Her commitment to service extended into law enforcement, where she served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, demonstrating her commitment to her community, her strength, and her independence.
A devoted mother and caring friend, Judy’s passion for life was evident in her love for animals, particularly her Great Danes, and her hobbies which included classic automobiles, collecting antiques, playing bingo, and spending cherished moments with her family and friends. Judy was a natural caregiver, taking care of her mother and brother during extended illnesses. Judy was ornery, had a big heart, and never met a stranger.
For the past several months, Judy was a resident of Park Place Senior Living where she quickly became an integral member of the community, was always seen smiling, and developed a strong bond with Pastor Jon Moody, of Park Place. Judy will be remembered by the staff and residents of the facility as a social butterfly. She thought highly of everyone in the facility and truly felt at home there.
Judy is survived by her children, Steve J. Roach, DeDe (Tim) Drysdale, and Jody M. Roach-Snider, all of Fort Wayne. Judy was the proud grandmother of her grandsons, Austin Trammel, Blake (Alexis) Trammel, Casey (Paula) Trammel, Corey Trammel, Warren Snider, Andrew Snider, and a granddaughter, Molly (Jake) McCain. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, many cousins, and her ex-husband Steve O. Roach.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Rosella (Falls) Cornell; and her loving brother, Jim Cornell. Per Judy’s request, a private family service will be held at a later time. Greenlawn Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, is caring for her arrangements. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Humane Fort Wayne.
