JOHN T. SHANK, 80, died on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013. Born July 26, 1933, in Fort Jennings, Ohio, he was a son of the late Manford Shank and Elpha Unland Shank. He was a Korean War Navy veteran and served on the U.S.S. Erben. John retired from Falstaff Brewery with 25 years service and from B.F. Goodrich with 16 years service. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joan (Geyer) Shank; daughter, Susan (Jim) Serstad of Shanghai, China; son, Rev. Steven (Rita) Shank of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Cameron and Spencer Shank, Garret, Jenna and Ian Serstad; brother, Manford Shank of Hoagland, Ind.; and sister, Alta Ault of Lexington, Ky. He was preceded in death by sisters, Leah Gause, Lucille Gause and Datha Huston. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Preferred memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Building Fund or Otterbein Home, Lebanon, Ohio.
