John "Jack" W. Hayes III

John “Jack” W. Hayes III, age 80, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Jack was born on October 5, 1938 in Roanoke, VA to the late John W. Hayes Jr. and Esther Grace (Root) McClain. Jack graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke and then continued his education graduating from Virginia Tech majoring in Business. On September 3, 1960, he married Joyce Gates in Virginia. Jack worked for State Farm Insurance for 61 years as both an agent and a manager. Jack was a member of Corps of Cadets at VPI, past president of both March of Dimes and NALU, and a board member of the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. He and his wife are charter members of Life Bridge Church. He was on the Missions Council at Life Bridge and Fools for Jesus Global Tract Ministry. Jack was a boat and sailing enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling, short term Mission Ministries and was globally licensed with Four Square Denomination. Survivors include his spouse, Joyce Hayes of Ft. Wayne, Children; Cathy (Greg) Pitts of MI, Jackie (Denny) Keiser of IN, and Bill (Tracie) Hayes of VA, Grandchildren; Jessa (Greg) Osusky of CA, Ben (Brianna) Pitts of MI, Mitchell Keiser of FL, and Alexandra Keiser of IN,a great-grandchild, Graham Pitts, of MI, and a brother, Joe Hayes of NC. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 5:00-8:00pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park, 1320 Dupont Rd, Ft. Wayne, IN 46825. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30am at Life Bridge Church, 12719 Corbin Rd, Ft. Wayne, IN 46845. Burial will take place at a later date at Riverview Cemetery.
