Obituary of John Barry Davis
John Barry Davis, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away March 8, 2024, in Indianapolis. He was born on April 4, 1950, to the late Paul and Patricia (Dehne) Davis. John graduated from Huntington North HS. After college, he became a manager with 84 Lumber in several different states. He later became manager for the Wickes Lumber in Fort Wayne where for almost 30 years he earned many annual awards and trips as a top manager in the company. John's greatest joy was his family - first his sons and then their families and his six grandchildren. He coached his sons in several sports and then later enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in their events. John also had a passion for farming and farmed about 1500 acres for over 25 years. His place of relaxation was at Lake Wawasee. He made wonderful memories there with his family and friends for many years and especially on the holidays. John was a member of Fellowship of Wesley Chapel and was also a member of the Fort Wayne Corvette Club for several years. John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Phyllis; two sons, Kent (Jennifer) Davis, of Westfield and Chris (Laurel) Davis, of Warsaw; his siblings, Gloria (Dave) McKuras, of Bourbonnais, IL, Jane (John) Vickrey, of Warren, Carol Davis, of Huntington, Reed Davis, of Warren and Sharon (Mark) Green, of Huntington; 6 grandchildren, Carly Davis, Hudson Davis, Emerson Davis, Avery Davis, Carter Davis and Kate Davis. A visitation will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home- Pine Valley, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, from 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Fellowship of Wesley Chapel, 13733 Wesley Chapel Road Churubusco, IN 46723 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior.
