John M. Bissontz, 86, entered into Heaven December 30, 2018. He was born on July 26, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from East Palestine High School then dutifully served as a Radioman, Petty Officer Second Class in the United States Navy on the USS Bushnell AS-15 during the Korean War. He studied Electrical Engineering at Valparaiso University. He worked at Farnsworth Electronics (later ITT), then Magnavox as an Electrical Engineer until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, golf, woodworking, historic naval ships, aviation, and competitive shooting sports. He took pleasure in watching old movies and listening to WBCL. His greatest investment was spending time with and mentoring his grandkids. He faithfully served Christ at Faith United Methodist Church as a trustee and head usher and started the Dare to Car Ministry there. He is survived by wife of 60-years, Jeanette (Bourne) Bissontz, his daughter, Mary Lyons, his son, Jay (Kristen) Bissontz, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, from 4-7pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home Pine Valley Park, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1:30pm will calling 1-hour prior at D.O McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park. Burial will take place at Highland Park Cemetery.
