JESSE S. LIECHTY, 96, of Spencerville, died on Monday, April 15, 2013, at The Cedars. Born Sept. 25, 1916, in Archbold, Ohio, he was a son of the late Silas and Sarah Liechty. Jesse was a man of the land. He was a farmer in the Leo area all of his life. He was passionate about living, loving his God, his family, and sharing the 'good news' of Jesus with any one he would meet. He enjoyed speaking and singing with is wife, Margie at the rescue missions, jails, etc. His harmonica was always at his hand, ready for a song. He was involved with The Gideon's, Full Gospel Businessmen and church life. He loved to travel and be involved in mission projects. He lived life to the fullest and acknowledged the Lord in all his ways. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Margie M.; children, Leon (Pauline) Liechty of Lillian, AL, Steven (Linda) Liechty and Darrell (Carrol) Liechty, both of Pensacola, Fla., Neil (Trish) Liechty of Pine Mountain, GA., Dawn (Jacob) Gingerich of Durango, Colo., and Karla (Joey) Miller of Spencerville; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Richard (Ruth) Liechty of Spencerville. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Mark Alan Liechty; sisters, Mildred Graber, Delilah Seiler, Mary Stuckey, and Ruth Shue; and brothers, Simon Liechty, Omer Liechty and Reuben Liechty. A service celebrating his life is 5 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Central Church, 5801 Schwartz Road. Pastor Jeremy Helmuth and Pastor Don Delagrange officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 6 Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Private burial in Leo Memorial Cemetery, Leo. Preferred memorials to Gideon's International.
