Janice Louise Meier, 78, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her home in Indianapolis. Born November 15, 1944 in Fort Wayne, she was the oldest child of the late Edward and Louise Hoch. She was a part of the first graduating class of Bishop Luers High School and attended St. Francis College. Janice worked for Interstate Studio for 22 years.
Her family was the core of her life and her friends felt like family. Childhood summers at Lake James and Little Long Lake, Fourth of July celebrations, dice games in the basement, Christmas and Thanksgiving feasts, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, dinner parties, marble matches, all were occasions where Janice was in her element laughing, playing, cooking and generally taking charge. Janice was always in search of a sale, looking for deals, studying the ads and trying to find that perfect gift. Shopping was her hobby, sport and lifestyle.
Janice is survived by her husband of 55 years Stephen L.; son, Christopher (Molly) Meier of Indianapolis, IN; grandsons Colin and Evan Meier; a sister, Barbara DeWitt of Fort Wayne; brothers, Les (Anne) Hoch of Greenville, SC, and James (Cindy) Hoch and Rick (Lisa) Hoch both of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward W. and Louise M (Derheimer) Hoch; and sister, Judy Hoch.
She lived and died her way, her terms, help us celebrate the way she lived.
