It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Janet Marie Schwartz, known to many as Baba Jan. She was a woman who embraced life with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her faith and family, leaving us with countless memories of her playful, joyful spirit.
A devoted wife, she shared a love for adventure with her husband Sam for 33 years of marriage. Together they explored the beauty of life in countless ways. They hiked winding trails, traveled to new places, soaked in the serenity of nature, and cheered passionately for Purdue basketball. These shared experiences fulfilled their lives and strengthened their bond, creating a tapestry of memories woven with love and laughter.
Mom was more than a parent; she was a companion in all the little adventures of childhood. From days splashing in the pool to building snowmen together in winter, she was always by our side, making life feel like a celebration. Even though she was a devoted teacher, she cherished snow days as much as we, her daughters did ; we'd gather around in our cozy home, sharing treats and making memories that will last us a lifetime.
A true lover of life's simple pleasures, Mom had a passion for sweets and a well-known aversion to cooking. She also had an impeccable eye for fashion, bringing flair and elegance to her wardrobe and her home. Every holiday was a chance for her to decorate and transform her surroundings into a festive haven, spreading joy and wonder to all who visited.
Above all, Jan was a cherished grandmother, Baba, to her four beloved granddaughters and a doting great- grandmother to two. Her love was steadfast and boundless, and she delighted in the laughter, hugs, and moments spent with each of them. She created a legacy of love, kindness, and warmth, one that will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her.
Jan's light, love, and laughter will be profoundly missed but forever remembered. As we say good bye for now, we celebrate the wonderful life she led and the love she left behind in each of our hearts.
