James T. Wheeler

James T. Wheeler, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was born on January 14, 1926 in Wynne, Arkansas to the late James H. and Lettye (Finn) Wheeler. He worked as Director of Prison Industries for the State of Indiana at Michigan City, Indiana before retiring in April of 1983. He was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Surviving family include his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Arndt) Wheeler of Fort Wayne; son, Kurt Wheeler of Fort Wayne; grandson, Brian Wheeler; granddaughter, Kimberly Griggs; great grandchildren, Korrie Griggs, Brianna Wheeler, and Mya Niemeyer. Besides his parents, Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by his brother, Edsel Wheeler. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 8010 West Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior to services. Visitation will also be from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. A burial will take place at 3:00 pm ET at the Tracy Cemetery in Laporte, Indiana on Monday, October 8, 2012. Memorials may be made in Mr. Wheeler’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Risen Savior Lutheran Church.
