JAMES ARTHUR WALPER, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital. Born Feb. 13, 1920, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Arthur R. Walper and Anna (Bradtmiller) Walper. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was an accountant at Fortmeyers Inc. for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He was a 50 years member of Summit City Lodge No. 170 F.&A.M. and a 50 year 32 degree member of the Shrine; and a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, 50 year member of the Scottish Rite and American Legion Post 499. "Jim's nieces and nephews were very dear to him. He loved fishing, golf, IU basketball and football, and the Colts." Surviving are his wife, Kathryn I. (Lahrman) Walper of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by brother, Carl L. Walper; sister, Ruth Pedersen; and nephew, Thomas Pedersen. Pallbearers are Jeff and Todd Pedersen, Jay Lahrman, Dan Newport, Dr. James Gates, and Tom Schoenherr. Honorary pallbear-ers are Eugene Lyons, Robert Kirschman, Clarence Lahrman III, Jack Lahrman, Howard Fortmeyer, Douglas Pedersen and Ken Dick. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity English Lutheran Church. Dr. Rev. Fred Hasceke officiating.
