James J. Steinacker, 78, of Ft Wayne, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System. He was born June 1, 1932 in Ft Wayne. He was employed with City Glass Specialty Inc for 51 years, retiring in 2002. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ft Wayne. He was a humble, faithful, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a 1951 Central Catholic graduate and was a proud member of the 1950 State Football Championship Team. Surviving are his wife, of 53 years, Mary Alice (Schmitt), of Ft Wayne; sons, George (Teresa), of St Louis, MO; Jeffery (Maureen), of Mason, OH; Stephen (Cathi), of Indianapolis; Andrew (Tammy), of Ft Wayne; daughter, Angela (Michael) Rectanus, of Ft Wayne, and son, Fr. Anthony, of Ft Wayne; 14 grandchildren, Samuel and Ann Scharenberg, Elizabeth Steinacker, Abigail and Carly Steinacker, Tara, Blake and Jack Steinacker, Ryan, A.J. and Tyler Steinacker & Amanda, Jonathan and Benjamin Rectanus; sister, Mary T. Gillie, of Leesburg, FL, brother-in-law, Fr. Adam Schmitt, of Ft Wayne, sister-in-law, Joan (Otto) May, of Brookville, IN, nephew, Michael Gillie, niece, Donna Turek, nephew, John May, niece, Mary Sorrels; and dear friends, Carol Puls and Martha Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, George J. and Annette (Tholen) Steinacker. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30am Monday, September 20, 2010 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Ave. with calling 1 hr prior. Visitation is 3-8pm Sunday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton, Winchester Rd. Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. with a Rosary recited at 7:30pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
