James Eric “Jake” Brabson, 75, passed away November 27, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born September 14, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late James Elmore and Geneva Little. James graduated from Central High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967-1970 and was awarded a Bronze Star.
James retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad after many years of dedicated service. He later worked for the Indianapolis, Indiana Public Library in the delivery department and retired in 2011.
He was a member of Blackhawk Ministries and volunteered with the children’s ministries. James was a sponsor contributor of Blackhawk missionaries in, Jordan, Kenya and Nairobi. He was a collector of art pieces and he contributed to local artist exhibits. His greatest love in life were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James would pray from his prayer list daily over his loved ones, with prayers of blessings, love and well-being for each of them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Genois Brabson of Fort Wayne; children, Natasha Stevens (Roosevelt Tubbs Jr.), Sherece Henry, Shandareen L. Sanders, James E. Brabson Jr., April Ware (Kevin Roberson), DeLawrence Brabson, Shemika Brabson, Sabrina Brabson, Marcus Brabson, Deon Brabson and DaJwan Ware; stepson, Marlin Adams; brother, Gary (Mary) Brabson; sister, Carol Martin; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by, his parents, James Elmore and Geneva Little; step-father, Tommy Little sister, Elayne Brabson; brother, Neil Brabson; granddaughter, Shanteae Breann Sanders, great-granddaughter, Beatrice Smith, and nephew, Sean Brabson.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley Park, 1320 East Dupont Road, IN, with visitation two hours prior. Committal, burial and Army Honors will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Marion National Cemetery 1700 East 38 Street Marion, IN.
