Hugh Alan Kessler, 70, of Decatur, IN ,formerly of Fort Wayne, lost his battle with Esophageal Cancer Friday, December 3. He fought valiantly for three years to beat it. Hugh’s motto always was "ENDEAVOR
TO PERSEVERE" and that he did until the end of his life. He was born October 24, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Dan and Donna (Brand) Kessler; she survives at 91 years old in Bremerton, WA. Hugh was a graduate of South Side High School. He began his career with Fort Wayne Community Schools and later worked for South West Allen Schools until his retirement in 2005. Hugh loved helping people, drag racing, target shooting, hunting ,fishing and playing with GiGi. He had many friends including; Tony Myers, Doug Schieferstein, and Scott Newkon who he considered his “best buddies.” Also surviving are his brother, Phillip of Bremerton; a niece and nephew in Washington; the Love of his Life, Ann Rickert; and his little rescue dog, GiGi who reside in Decatur, IN. There are no services or visitation, but a get- together with close friends will be held in late spring. Ann Rickert would like to thank Cancer Services, Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home for the wonderful care and compassion Hugh received during his last days on earth.
