Harry Vaughn Upton

HARRY VAUGHN UPTON, 87, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014, 3:27 a.m., at his residence. Born Saturday, Feb. 26, 1927, in McCool, Ind., he was a son of the late James Upton and Nelda (Cooper). He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a lineman for A.E.P. / Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 257 and American Legion Post 499. Surviving are his son, Randall (Cindy) Upton of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; daughters, Diana Upton of Fort Wayne and Therese (Donald) Bjortomt of Avon, Ind.; son, Jeffrey (Melissa) Upton of Huntington; daughter, Colleen May of Avon, Ind.; sister, Donna English of North Carolina; brother, Dean Upton of Michigan City, Ind.; sisters, Sally Lunsford of New Carlisle, Ind. and Janet Wiley of Urbana, Iowa; grandchildren, Darcie, Wendy, Shawn, Neal, Arrick, Dawn, Jeffrey Jr., Andrew, Victoria, Nathan, Ashley; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delores M. (Eatinger) Upton. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., with calling from noon to 2 p.m. .
