Rev. Harry Lee Hyde, 75, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He will be missed for his quiet wisdom, his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, and his love and commitment to his family.
Harry was born August 8, 1947 in Lima, Ohio, the eldest son of Burl and Helen (Gratz) Hyde. He married Lynnette Kae Stamm on September 1, 1973, recently celebrating their 49th anniversary. He was a graduate of Fort Wayne Bible College (B.A.), University of St. Francis (M.Ed.), and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Doctorate). Harry was an ordained minister in the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches and passionate about international ministry, carrying the gospel to 39 different countries throughout his lifetime. He led an active life serving as a Pastor in Michigan, Missionary in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, Missions Administrator, Adjunct Professor, and Executive Pastor. He retired from Brookside Church in 2016 and spent his final years surrounded by friends and family.
Harry will be greatly missed by his wife, Lynnette; and four sons, Joshua (Susan) of Lafayette, Jonathan (Abigail) of Fort Wayne, Joel (Angela) of Fort Wayne, and Jeremiah (Gwen) of Fort Wayne; sixteen grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Tanya) of Las Vegas; and many other extended family members and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary.
A Celebration of Harry’s life and legacy will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Brookside Church in Fort Wayne, with a visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Brookside Church, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A private graveside service for family will take place at Riverview Cemetery on Carroll Road on a future date.
