Harry R. Gottfried, 84, of Fort Wayne was taken to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Harry was a longtime resident of Fort Wayne. He enjoyed going to Komet Hockey, Chicago Cubs, and Homestead football games, but most of all, enjoyed playing pool with family. Harry was in sales most of his life and received numerous awards and accolades including Kirby salesman of the year. He worked successfully at many different jobs through the years, but most recently, he owned and operated Harry R. Gottfried Insurance Agency, Fort Wayne until his retirement. He was a member of The Chapel, Fort Wayne and was an active member of their Celebrate Recovery program where he recently celebrated 54 years of sobriety. His love for the Lord, along with his sense of humor, made an impact on everyone he encountered, which enabled him to bring many lives to Christ including his children and family members. Harry is survived by his beautiful wife of over 61 years, Sonja; children, Michael, Robert (Daphne), Christopher (Richard), Daniel (Lynette), David (Kristy), and Andrew (Lisa); daughters, Shevawn (Dave) Shoppell, Kim (Rick) Stigerts, and Charlene (Chris) Daymude; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren arriving in the spring of 2023; brother, James; and sisters, Laura Mae (Donald) Miller and Sharon Krall. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel; brothers, Eugene, Gary, and Arthur; sisters, Ruth Martin, Velma Gottfried, and Phyllis Mynhier; daughter, Charmaine Gottfried; and stepson, James Arnold. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Rick Hawks will be officiating. Visitation will also be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
