George M. Harker, 60, passed away at Parkview Randallia Hospice on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Russell and Beverly (Huss) Harker. After graduating high school, George enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, and was able to tour Korea, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. He enjoyed listening to '60s, '70s, and '80s music and loved hunting with a shotgun. One of George's most cherished memories is that of fishing with his grandfather at Crooked Lake where they caught a total of 127 crappies, bluegill, and sunfish. He was excited that he was able to help feed his family! George lived in Long Beach, California for several years, spoke Spanish, and could fall asleep in odd places such as at the family piano or while eating a plate of spaghetti. He is survived by a sister, Mary (Richard) Spaulding; a son, Ian Harker; and four nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Joe Harker. A celebration of life for George will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with visitation two hours prior.
