Gene Mark Harshbarger, age 96, passed away on August 2, 2023 at Saint Anne Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Gene was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on December 2, 1926. He was a graduate of Hammond High School, in Hammond, Indiana. Gene served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railroad after forty-four years of service.
Gene married Sue Neff on May 7, 1950 in Claypool, Indiana. They were married seventy-three years. Gene is survived by his wife, Sue; sons: Garry (Dawn) and Brian Harshbarger; a son-in-law: Terry Ashton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter-Julie Harshbarger Ashton; his parents and two brothers-Hubert and Gilbert Harshbarger.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Gene on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Putnam St., Fort Wayne, Indiana, with Debbie Smith officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services-Mungovan.
