I was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. When we lose a parent, we lose a link to our childhood and are set adrift.
Remember all that was good and kind in him and blessings for the future.

My grandpa was a huge influence on me for such a long time. He taught me hard work always pays off. If I accomplished anything as a kid, he would always present me with a bigger challenge. I always looked forward to working along side him in the garden, in the shop, at the apartments, or my favorite... road trips in the van to haul furniture. I still remember being 18 discussing the purpose of "the internet" and he challenged me to find (and read) Alexander Solzhenitsyn's Harvard Address. I didn't even know how to spell the name. Mr. Braun was my English teacher in 7th grade at Lane.  I remember he suggested to the class to buy a book called, “Roget's Thesaurus” to find synonyms for words.  I bought one and still have the book today.  I still use the Thesaurus on my computer.

I truly respected Mr. Braun for his teaching skills, and he was a very moral person.  He was truly an educational stalwart in his generation.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr Braun's family at this time.  He was a teacher of mine growing up and one of the first to really make me think about a subject matter and enjoy doing so.  He was a great teacher and always kept me and my fellow classmates on their toes.  It was an honor to have as a teacher and will be missed by many. Wow. I always knew my grandpa was special. But as my cousin, Heather stated, hearing from his coworkers and students is very moving and consoling.  Thank you. I feel his presence more than ever and hope to be as inspirational for my 6th grade literature and English students. I am so proud to follow in your footsteps, Grandpa! You have touched many and gave everything you had.

Amy you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  The love of a father never leaves you. You will always feel his soul touching yours.

My condolences to the family of my friend and former colleague, Felix Braun.  I first met Felix when I joined the staff at Lane Middle School in the 1980's when the sixth grade was moved to middle school.  He would stop by my classroom almost every morning to exchange a few thoughts about education, politics, religion and more.  He always had ideas that were interesting and engaging.  After we retired from teaching, another teacher and I would get together with Feliz for breakfast once or twice a year.  To me, he was the same good-natured, interesting, entertaining and thought-provoking guy that  I had known for many years.  He was a special friend and you have suffered a great loss.  God Bless

I never knew which schools my grandfather taught at, but I am excited to learn from this guest book that Lane middle was where he taught.  Every week I take my son to a soccer training session at Lane. Next week when we go, I will walk the halls knowing that my grandfather was once there.  Thank you for sharing your memories so that I and the rest of my family can add to ours..

Joe, Lauri, and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Felix was a genuinely sweet man and he was blessed to have such a large and loving family around him.

We're so sorry on the loss of Felix. Our prayers, thoughts and condolences are with you. Sorry we can't attend the funeral but Marty has cataract surgery late that same morning.
   Know that we, too, will miss him greatly in our Arise meeting sessions.

Mr. Braun was my eighth grade reading teacher at Lane Middle School. He was a wonderful teacher, and I have very fond memories of him. He really cared about his students and it was obvious! Prayers for his family!

I never had Mr Braun as a teacher at Lane, but I knew him.  Friends that were in his classes always liked him. We have lost another quality educator and will probably not see his likes again.  One teacher touches thousands of lives, and he did it right.

From Stacie Erck's St. Joe College friend, I'm so glad Mr. Braun went to St. Joe. I think he is the reason I met this wonderful grandchild.

Dear Family,
I liked that our two families both had ten kids. Your Dad was a good man, and a good friend to my Mom and Dad. We love you and we are praying for you during this sad time.

I remember sitting in the middle of his pickup truck leaving an auction once and being told that I was sitting in a special seat and that I had a very important job to do.  I was told I was to hold the gear shift.  Thinking that I was going to just have to hold it in gear, I was totally surprised when when he pulled the shifter leaver from the steering column and handed it to me.  He told me not to loose it as he would be needing it again soon.
