Ernie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Bethlehem under the leadership of the late Rev. Isaiah Williams and served on the usher board. As an adult, he attended Greater Mt. Ararat Baptist Church under the late Rev. Ernest Starks where he also served on the usher board. He graduated from Southside high school in 1981.
Ernie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He was a hard worker, his first job was where he learned to detail cars was at Unique Clean Up Shop with his father, Ernie Meriwether. He worked at O’Daniel Oldsmobile, Don Ayres Acura, and TST Automotive for 16 years; and Pizza Hut where he got the name “Kitchen Coordinator”.
Ernie loved detailing/undercoating cars, playing cards ``Tonk” and most of all spending time with his family. Ernie's proudest title was grandpa to his one and only granddaughter, Ma’Laya who he called his “Cupcake”.

Meriwether, three favorite nieces, Linisha Rogers, Tiyonna and Tara Meriwether; and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a good friend, Homer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Meriwether; a sister, Jowanna “Pinky” Brown; great nephew, Diquan Meriwether; Grandma Ethel Starks; father in law, James Starks; brother in law, Ricardo”Yacub” Jones; grandparents, Early and Augusta Wills, and Colie and Ellen Meriwether.
Ernie departed this life on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the age of 60, but never from our hearts.
A Celebration of Ernie's Life will be 12:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Greater Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 2111 Edsall Avenue, (46803) with the Rev. Harold Johnson, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services and burial will follow in Lindenwood Cemetery.
