Westbrook, ME – Elizabeth Ann (McCarthy) Maillet, 46, of Westbrook was called home to heaven after battling with cancer for three years on Monday, February 4, 2013. She passed in the comfort of her own home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Dennis A. Maillet for 25 memorable years. She was born on June 19, 1966 in Portland, ME a daughter of the late Roger J. McCarthy and Barbara J. (Kelley) McCarthy and her husband Jura Burdinik of Portland.
Elizabeth grew up in Portland, attending local area schools and graduated from Deering High School as a member of the class of 1985. Then in 1987 she married Dennis while living in Stafford Springs, CT and they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last year. After nine years in Stafford Springs, the family moved back to Maine and then moved to Tampa, FL where they stayed for eight years before returning to Maine in October of 2011. These moves were because of Elizabeth’s love for adventure and new experiences. God used these times to form their tight knit family and strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord.
Elizabeth was the manager and inspiration at her mother’s business for six years at A Pane of Glass Art Studio in Saco Maine. During their time in Tampa she also managed the Food Ministry at The River at Tampa Bay Church. She was also a member of the River of Life Church in Alfred.
Besides her mother and her husband she is survived by her three children: Jessica Maillet of Westbrook, Joel Maillet and his wife Brittany of Riverview, FL and Jonathan Maillet and his wife Jordan and their son Jace A. Maillet of New Port Richey, FL. She also leaves her sister Karen Foley and her husband Thomas of Westbrook, two nieces Kelley and Shannon Foley and a nephew Thomas Foley. On Dennis’ side she leaves her mother in law Bianca Maillet, sister in laws Denise Steele, Diane Higa, and Debbie Claypoole and their families.
Everyone appreciated her beautiful artwork including her crafts, quilts, painting and stained glass. Her sister Karen will miss the early morning yard sales with Elizabeth. The family will miss her passionate love for them as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and in-law. Elizabeth was a Godly woman who loved to serve others and share the love of Christ. Above all else her husband will miss her beautiful, bright smile and her contagious, bubbly laughter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Foley/Maillet residence at 768 Cumberland St. Westbrook, ME.
Arrangements are under the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 981 Forest Ave, Portland. Please visit www.advantageportland.com to sign Elizabeth’s guestbook.
