Eleanor (Wohlert) Carr of Douglassville, PA and formerly of Fort Wayne, IN, died on May 11, 2017. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, December 12, 1927. Eleanor was a graduate of Denby High School in Detroit and of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois where she majored in Bible and minored in Music. She was frequently a church pianist and often a Sunday School teacher. She was a loving wife, a very loving, caring mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. For many years, she enjoyed working at the Anchor Room Bookstore. She also loved visiting and playing the piano at the Bethlehem Woods Nursing home and at
The Arbor Glen Retirement Home in Fort Wayne. In recent years, she enjoyed living at The Keystone Villa Retirement Home in Douglassville, where she felt blessed to be able to play the piano for other residents. Eleanor is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Robert) Lauter and of North Hampton, NH, Joy (Stephen) Van Sloten of Istanbul, Turkey, and Darlene (Robert) Whitbeck of Quakertown, PA; her grandchildren, Lisa (Fred) Thompson, Laura (Brian) Smith, Robert (Sarah) Lauter, Joel (Anneke) Van Sloten, Mandy (Sanjay) Suckoo, Deirdre (Robert) Eberly, Robert (Shannon) Whitbeck, and Ryan Whitbeck; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband W. Neale Carr; her parents, Herman and Frieda Wohlert; her brothers, Harold and Kurt (Lydia) Wohlert. 2 Corinthians 5:8, “We are confident, yes, well pleased to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” Funeral Service will be 10:00am on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the North Park Community Church, 7160 Flutter Rd, Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd, Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
