Doris M. Walker, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Renaissance Village. Born in Fort Wayne, Doris was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Walker. Doris worked at General Electric for 43 years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and in earlier years embroidery. Doris was a founding member of Avalon Missionary Church. She is survived by her nieces, Gloria (Jimmy) Day of Jourdanton, TX, Sharon (the late Joseph) Horstman of Ft. Wayne, Collette (John) Chew of Ft. Myers, FL, and Colleen (Walter) Rice of Enumclaw, WA; seven great nieces and nephews; eight great great nieces and nephews. Doris was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Cox. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46809 with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the funeral home. Pastor K. Paul Maurer will be officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Avalon Missionary Church.
