Dora "Dodie" Hoelle, 72, was promoted on May 28, 2021 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home. She was born in Princeton, IN on November 24, 1948, the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Day. Dodie grew up in Chula Vista, CA where she learned Spanish which she used the rest of her life. She moved to Booneville, IN and then to Ft. Wayne.
She was a member of First Assembly of God and was involved in Stephen Ministries, Cleansing Stream, was an Elder, was on the Missions Board, was a greeter, and sometimes taught classes. Dodie was very prophetic in dealing with people. She represented the U.S. for Pastor George Nelson, opening a nationally recognized church in Sweden. Dodie worked as a volunteer for Visiting Nurse and visited assigned patients in various nursing homes and their residence in the Fort Wayne area. With her, no one was ever alone.
She had worked in various retail jobs in her earlier years before becoming a licensed physical therapist. She enjoyed using essential oils from Young Living.
She was a member of the Central Lion's Club and was on the Foreign Exchange Student Committee where she helped to place students in France. She and her husband also hosted a number of them in their home. Dodie had the chance to visit France twice and Germany once to visit the home of one of their exchange students. She also went to Central America for 18 years during the summer doing medical missions where she helped with eye glass and dental work.
She enjoyed traveling and her highlight was her 25th anniversary cruise on the Disney Cruise line.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Thomas Hoelle; daughter, Konni (Jonathan) Liechty; granddaughter, Lily Liechty; and sister-in-law, Lois Hoelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lillian Day; and brother, Richard Day.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021 at First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road., Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 11 am to 1 pm.
Visitation will also be held from 1 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly Church of God in care of the Cleansing Stream Ministry.
