OBITUARY
Donna Lee (DeWitt) Snyder
February 28, 1939 – August 7, 2018
Donna Lee DeWitt Snyder, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on February 28, 1939, and attended Bexley High School and The Ohio State University.
In Donna’s younger years, she was an athlete - equally at home on a diving board, in a swimming pool, on a tennis court or playing field hockey. While visiting her sister at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, Donna met her future husband, Herbert C. Snyder, Jr. They wed on August 1, 1959, in Coronado, California. Donna was an outstanding wife and mother to four daughters and dedicated herself to their care and the care of countless friends and family members. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, gardener, decorator, tennis player, sailor and a source of endless fun and laughter for her family.
Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Herbert Snyder of Fort Wayne, her daughters Karen (William) Black, Kathryn Bond, Kristin (Bill) Schneider, and Kara (David) White. She is survived by 10 grandchildren; David, Austin, Michael and Julia Black, Charlotte and Cody Bond, Greyson and Isabel Schneider, and Alexandra and Christopher White. Donna is also survived by older brother Louis Napoleon (Nancy) DeWitt, III of Westminster, California, and brother-in-law Bruce Snyder of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Napoleon DeWitt, II and Virginia Boggess DeWitt, and sister, Lois DeWitt Zemp.
A service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 W. Washington Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana at 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow.
