Donald George McDowell

Donald G. McDowell, of Fort Wayne, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the age of 74. Born January 1946, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Dewey and Dorothy McDowell. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Army’s 1st Calvary Division. He was presented the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Combat in September of 1967. Don worked for Navistar for 36 years, serving as a Committeeman and Shop Steward. He also earned an Associate degree from Purdue University in May, 1986. He is survived by his two children, Jeffery (Christina) McDowell and Laurie Sierks; his 5 grandchildren, Noah, Tyler, Alex, Allison, and Ryan; and brother, Jim McDowell. Don was preceded in death by his siblings Ray, Dewey, and Steve McDowell. Arrangements by Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home.
