

DOLORES V. STIER, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla. Born in Fort Wayne, she was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, serving as lector, distributor and greeter. During World War II , she worked at GE Super Charger, she was a three time state champion seamstress. She was also an accomplished tap dancer and performer with the Fort Wayne Alley Kats. She and her husband, Robert had acted as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for the Festival of Trees. Surviving are sons, Joseph (Rosie) Stier and Rick Stier, both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Jackie Franze of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Margaret Stier of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Woehnker; and sister, Marilyn Balser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Stier; son, Robert M. Stier; son-in-law, David Franze; and brothers, Joseph Woehnker and Thomas Woehnker. "The family wishes to thank Provena Sacred Heart Home for the three plus years of loving care they provided their mother." Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27,2010, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
