DENNIS BRIAN MERTZ, 58, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Born February 14, 1959, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Robert and Norma Jean Mertz. Dennis was a proud member of Carpenters Local 232 and also enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, traveling, NASCAR, and his Stroh's.
He is survived by his wife, Lynette Bakle; children, April (Paul) Goff, Brandon (Penny) Mertz, Stephanie (Kevin Fortney) Wheaton, and Zachary (Megan Butts) Huddleston; and siblings, Pam (Don) Nicholas, Greg (Mary) Mertz, David (Jayne) Mertz. He was "Paw Paw" to his 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Clouse. Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, with calling one hour prior. Memorials to the family.
