David Allen Stockert, age 72, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 06, 2022 after battling several medical conditions. Born on October 17, 1949, he was the son of the late Russell and Catherine (Osborne) Stockert. David grew up in Fort Wayne and was a graduate of Northside High School. As a young man, he began what would be a call to serve his country that spanned 30 years. David was drafted in to the active U.S. Army and served honorably during the war effort in Vietnam. He continued his service to his country in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard, from which he retired as a Tech Sergeant. David also worked for Valspar in Fort Wayne for over 30 years. When he wasn’t working, David enjoyed being outdoors, spending his time fishing or just observing nature. He loved all kinds of music and spending time with his children and grandchildren. David will be especially remembered by family and friends alike for his generosity, and his quiet presence in their lives will be greatly missed. He is survived by his three sons, David (Sandy) Stockert II, Jeremy (Jennifer) Stockert, and Clint (Leanne) Stockert; and his brother, Timothy Stockert. Also privileged to have shared in his life are his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles, John, and Richard Stockert; and his sister, Rose Watson.
