David H. Silvis

David Howard Silvis, 78, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 in Fort Wayne. Born in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, David worked in sales his entire life retiring from LH Carbide in 2000. He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church. David will be remembered for his big heart and giving nature to his church and community. He had a special love for his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Beth Silvis of Clinton Township, MI; Lynn (Tom) Schreiber of Carmel, IN; Mimi (Jon) Shackelford of Chelsea, MI; Ruth (Patrick) Manges of Fort Wayne; and John (Renee) Silvis of Millington, TN; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and his sisters, Miriam (Arlen) Wisseman of Polson, MT; and Cathy Goldston of Atlanta, GA. David was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Silvis; and his parents, Wilmer and Ann Silvis. Service is 11:00 am, Monday, January 18, 2016 at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 US Highway 24 West with calling 1hr prior. Calling also at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
