Obituary of David Allen Carr
David Allen Carr, 58, died on Friday, December 18 at his home in Fort Wayne, Ind. from COVID-19 complications. The son of Ronald A. and the late Roberta Warrenburg Carr, David was born on December 13, 1962 in Indianapolis. After graduating from Tri-West High School, he received his bachelor’s degree in broadcast production from IUPUI in 1986 and an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1995. While in undergrad school, Dave worked as a talent agent at The Music Book in Indianapolis. He married Ann Miller, nee PeGan, on March 14, 1986 in Speedway, Ind. where they lived for 13 years. David spent his entire career in broadcast media advertising, first at a radio station in Lebanon before becoming an account executive and promotions director at WASK-AM/FM in Lafayette. In 1994, he went to Comcast Spotlight-Indianapolis as an account executive, then entered sales management at Insight Cable in Lafayette in 1999. He returned to Comcast-Spotlight in 2006 as the ad sales manager in South Bend. In 2009, Dave started working at Weigel Broadcasting/ABC-57 in South Bend, first as an account manager and then as local ad sales manager. His last position was local ad sales manager at WFFT/FOX-55 in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the South Bend Rotary Club. An Indiana University Hoosiers, Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers fan, Dave especially loved auto racing in all series—INDYCAR, F-1, NHRA, IMSA, sprints and midgets, NASCAR, etc. Dave spent years writing a racing blog for prodigyatspeed.com and ABC-57, particularly for the Indianapolis 500 and the U.S. Nationals. He enjoyed traveling to races nationwide with his wife, a racing photographer. Dave is survived by his wife, Ann Miller Carr, his stepson, Donovan Miller (Sarah), Speedway/ Bloomington, his stepdaughter (Holly) Renee Morin (Doug), Nashville, Tenn., and two step-grandsons. Also surviving are his father, Ronald Carr, North Salem, his brother Mark Carr (Shannon), Greencastle, and three nephews. A memorial service will be planned later. Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis. Memorials to the Riley Children’s Foundation.
