DALLAS F. SMITH, 91, of Bloomington, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, 7:30 p.m., at Bloomington Hospital. Born June 16, 1919, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Wilbur Eastburn Smith and Sarah Fern (Fisher) Smith. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He retired from G.E. Co. as a Winding Engineer. He was a former Fort Wayne Civil Defense Fire Chief; and volunteer fireman for Perry Township Fire Department, Bloomington. Surviving are his children, Paul (Ann) Smith of Canyon Lake, Texas, Marc (Beth) Smith DDS of Bloomington, Gail Hamm of Fort Wayne, and Rise (Gene Fosmight) Smith of Madison, S.D.; brother, Doyle Smith of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leah Loretta (Nysseler); granddaughter, Julie Hamm; sister, Mary Dillon; and brother, Dale Smith. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev.
